Foxgloves Watercolour Painting (half-day workshop)

  • Yardley Arts, The Old School Hall The Square, Yardley Hastings Northampton, England, NN7 1EU United Kingdom (map)
Foxgloves and bees by Nicky Hunter

Welcome in the warmer weather by painting foxgloves and bees! Using watercolour, in this workshop with Nicky Hunter, you will experiment with expressive and vibrant techniques to keep your work looking bright, fresh, dynamic and sun kissed, just the way these wonderful blooms appear when they are dancing in the sunshine.

Nicky will demo the stages of a painting and watercolour techniques, which you will then use yourself during the day to create your own painting in an impressionistic and contemporary watercolour style.

Workshop demos aim to break the subject matter in to bite size sections and helpful exercise to aid your painting development, along with one-to-one guidance and support to help your painting skills progress and loosen up your style to achieve lively radiant paintings.

You are encouraged to develop and experiment and take painting in your own personal direction too, which is appealing to those with a little more experience and desire for self-expression and the benefit of a mixed level class.

You can transfer the tips, tricks and knowledge Nicky offers to many subject matters in watercolour.

Artist and tutor, Nicky Hunter in the art centre

Paintings are radiant ‘realism with a touch of romance', inspired by nature and ignited by colour, capturing the essence of the subject in an impressionistic style. Her painting and illustration skill set is diverse, due to the influence of two decades of designing print patterns for textiles for interiors and fashion, with designs selling globally. Styles range from refined botanical floral studies and graphical illustrations to vibrant, and often large scale, watercolour artworks which she is most known for.
