  • Yardley Arts, The Old School Hall The Square, Yardley Hastings Northampton, England, NN7 1EU United Kingdom (map)

Looking at aperture, shutter, speed and composition, this practical course aims to cover some of the fundamentals of digital photography, enabling you to gain a better understanding of how your camera works and providing you with techniques to improve your image-making.

The course is led by Tracey Sherwood, a Senior Lecturer of Photography at the University of Northampton. Tracey conducts photography workshops and teaches photography commercially. She has shot features for numerous magazines and cookbooks, and brings a fresh and sophisticated approach to her work. Her photographs reveal a love for natural light, a passion for good food and a meticulous attention to detail.

What to bring

Although based at the Arts Centre, we may travel locally to shoot during the sessions - please wear appropriate clothing. These are practical workshops, so access to a camera is essential. Please provide your own SD cards, and it would be advisable to have a memory stick available to store your images in between sessions. A pocket-sized notebook and pen would also be handy. Additionally, for the first session, please bring three photographic examples: one image that you took that you are proud of, one image that you aspire to and one that holds a special significance to you.

If you have any specific questions, please email Tracey direct.
