Scale Up (half-day workshop for 8-12 year olds)

  • Yardley Arts, The Old School Hall The Square, Yardley Hastings Northampton, England, NN7 United Kingdom (map)

This 2-hour workshop with Cathy Burnett and Emma Lindsay is aimed at those wishing to develop their observational drawing skills. Students will be warmly welcomed, and the session will contain two 1-hour linked activities.

We will be ‘scaling up’ very small objects to A2 causing them to take on a whole new character. Participants will make one drawing in monochrome, using a mixture of materials including soluble graphite and white oil pastel, and a study using expressive colour in both wet and dry media.

Everyone will have the opportunity to experience working at an easel for the monochrome activity.

We will reference the work of artists Jim Dine and Lisa Milroy, both of whom have taken inspiration from everyday objects transforming them into a larger scale.
