Sculpting the Figure in Clay (1-day workshop)

  • Yardley Arts, The Old School Hall The Square, Yardley Hastings Northampton, England, NN7 1EU United Kingdom (map)

This is a rare all-day workshop with artist and tutor, Sara Myers, where you will be modelling a small seated figure from a life model. Working from turntables with the life model on a raised turntable (banker), you will learn how to sculpt a small size figure in the round, looking at volumes and how to work to sculpt the figure to scale.

You will make a small seated figure (approx. 8-12 inches in height, depending on the pose) which will then dry out and can be painted/coloured later at home.

The workshop is designed for standing while you sculpt or sitting on a tall stool.

For those of you who are confident ceramicists/sculptors, grogged terracotta or grey clay can be made available, but you would be responsible for your own firing or casting outside of this workshop. Please contact Sara Myers at the time of booking if you would like to request this.

In total there will be six hours modelling time with an hour for lunch.

Coffee, tea and biscuits available for £1.
