Come and join in with the workshops for the 11th Yardley Hastings Lantern Parade, the first under the management of Route Canal Arts. This year’s theme is titled ‘Iluminar el cielo’, which will look at the magical time of Winter and the traditions that are celebrated around December, such as Las Posadas (Central America) and Yule, the Winter Solstice and their connections with Christmas.

Lantern workshops will be led by Jane Roberts and Simon Tipping, where you will make you own individual lantern or be part of a team to make a large sculptural Las Posadas 9-pointed Star or a Carol singer puppet lantern. Learn the tradition of making lanterns from willow and tissue paper lanterns. Large makes and community drop-in workshops take place between Monday 25 and Friday 29 November 2019.

There will be a charge of £1.50 towards the cost of lights for each lantern.
