In this five-week practical course you will sculpt a small torso (approximately half life-size) from a live male model.
You will learn how to build and develop a clay sculpture directly from observation, focusing on the structure, form and anatomy of the torso. The course also covers preparation for firing, so that you leave with a finished sculpted torso ready for the kiln.
If you already have experience preparing work for firing, you may spend the full five weeks sculpting from the model. If not, the final session will focus on hollowing and preparing your piece for firing, with demonstrations and step-by-step guidance from the tutor.
Please note: firing costs and transport are included in the course fee. The drying and firing process takes approximately 4 weeks, after which you will be notified of a collection time /date from Yardley Arts or Saramica.
