Acrylic Landscape Painting (Beginners and improvers 4 week course)

  • Yardley Arts, The Old School Hall The Square, Yardley Hastings Northampton, England, NN7 1EU United Kingdom (map)

Back by popular demand!

This follows the demand and success of the tutor’s recent course, and we are delighted to be running another!

Beginners

Are you interested in learning to paint in acrylic? Do you want to paint landscapes that can be strong and bold or subtle and calm? Do you want to enjoy the ease and freedom of making adjustments that acrylics give? Are you keen but nervous? Then this course by Chris Richbell is for you.

As a beginner, you will experience the great advantage of working with Acrylics.  Together we will mix a surprisingly wide range of colours from just a small number of paints. Chris will demonstrate all techniques and your experiments will include dry brush work, masking, blending, building layers, scumbling, sgraffito and scraping. Many of these will be used in your first landscape painting and my intention is that you will be very proud of this!

As confidence increases you will, by week 3 be ready to use your new skills on your own chosen landscape image, which we aim to complete by week 4.

Improvers

Keen to practice and learn more about acrylic landscapes?  Then come and join us…

On this course, improvers can choose to recap and reinforce their skills and techniques or work on a landscape of your choice.  I will also provide a range of photographs of landscapes and seascapes and encourage full use of all techniques previously learnt.

A wonderful tutor who really helped me to experiment and have a belief in myself that I can paint.

About the tutor

Chris is a member and regular exhibitor with the Northampton Town and County Art Society and serves on their council. She paints mainly in watercolour or acrylic, and sometimes with mixed media or pastels. She is part of a group of painters from all over the country that annually enjoy painting together in Walberswick on the Suffolk coast. Painting outside whatever the weather, brings a whole new meaning to watercolour! Chris' work has been exhibited in London and nationally, and she has had work accepted by the Royal Academy.

(Chris) was really encouraging and empowering
