Join us for THE BIG DRAW – the worlds biggest drawing festival at The Old School Hall.

Drawing Silhouettes with Clare Abbatt

We will be creating a Living Line of silhouette drawings. Shadows will be cast using projected light silhouettes can be drawn around using large graphite pencils. These can be filled in in a variety of ways - drawing within the drawing, using paint, writing within the silhouette.

Come and have a go at exploring composition, light, shade and texture using bold materials to create interesting marks in this seaside-themed day.

Drawing for the Sketch Book with Simon Tipping

5 exercises to improve your drawing, why we keep a sketch book and developing ideas using the sketch book.

Wednesday 11-3pm
Face Value with Leigh Hopkinson.

Using graphite, charcoal, ink or pen/pencils we will be getting creative with portraiture,  this can be a self-portrait, someone you know or even your pet. Working as a group or on your own, making memories and cherishing one another.

Looking at the work of Paul Klee through line, colour and drawing games.

Picture This with Simon Tipping

Using photos, postcards and magazines for inspiration and a starting point for drawing.

Clare Abbatt
Claire is an established Fine Artist and art educator. Graduating with an MA from the University of Northampton.  Her work is primarily in portrait sculpture, figurative work and the creative collaboration of working commissions.  She was art technician at Moulton School & Science College. She teaches at FermynWood Contemporary Art and runs her own art classes “You can do Art”.

Iain Hodgkinson
Iain is an artist and printmaker.  He works running courses at Daventry Arts Club, Litchborough Art Club and facilitates sketch trip holidays and ‘sketch outdoor’ days. Iain is an enthusiastic and experienced workshop leader and is particularly interested in experimental approaches to drawing and printmaking.

Leigh Hopkinson
Leigh is a portrait and landscape artist. She has taught for over 25 years in schools and colleges, including running the Art Department at Barnfield College for many years.  Leigh teaches life drawing at Bedford College and in 2012 launched North Bed Arts, an independent community arts school serving local villages and doing outreach work in schools and art venues.
Activity: Big Draw Session Wednesday 25 October.

Simon Tipping
Simon has been a professional community artist and teacher since 1985 working in and around this region and in the south west.  Simon has a wide and diverse range of arts skills, not only in his personal work but also within education.  He is the Director of Route Canal Arts CIC, a member of Yardley Arts Collective and a founder member of Yardley Arts CIC.

Andrew Meredith
Yardley Arts are pleased and excited to have commissioned Andrew to create an artwork during the Big Draw weekend and the production of this work will also be filmed. During this time Andrew will be engaging with people visiting Yardley Arts Centre.  Andrew works predominantly with oil on canvas, his paintings focus on the human presence and their connection with the man-made and natural environment.  Andrew graduated from Plymouth University in 2015.
Activity: Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 October creation of art work (you are invited!)
